Tree-hug on October 24

It's so much easier to see the trees now in the woods.  And a lot easier to walk with less undergrowth.

I was first drawn to this tree by its interesting bark and bumps. 

But then I became curious about the lichen which I see growing on a lot of tree.  I did some research later and learned that lichens are a 'complex life form' made up of a fungus and an alga(e).  They are not parasitic and do not harm the tree.  Among other things, they absorb pollutants from the atmosphere and can indicate pollution levels.  Isn't that interesting!

This bumpy barked tree-being thought I was rather curious looking too!  Message:  Be open and curious.  Learn and grow.  Peace.
