The only prerequisite for participation is a sincere interest in Spiritual Healing
Our spiritually focused gathering begins with Distance Healing intentions for friends and loved ones (as well as world situations, the planet and nature). This is followed with a guided Self-Healing meditation led by Susan. She will guide you through the process of opening to the spiritual healing energies of your choice, then bringing them to the energy centers of your body by placing your hands on your body in a gentle and affirming way. The meditation concludes with overall balancing and honoring our spiritual guides with gratitude.
My first experience with Energy Healing was in the late 1970’s when I studied Shiatsu, a Japanese form of healing that works with the Traditional Chinese system of healing used in Acupuncture. I learned the energy meridians and key acupressure points along with various techniques for hands-on manipulation of the energy. Back then Shiatsu had not been classified as massage and anyone could study it. I studied with Wataru Ohashi a renowned practitioner and teacher in New York City. It was intensive study with a lot of supervised practice and even a retreat workshop at a Zen Buddhist monastery. My name was chosen for a Shiatsu demonstration by Ohashi. As a student it was far beyond what I had learned at that time and left me in awe. He was truly a Master. Unfortunately the legal inclusion of Shiatsu into massage therapy was happening at that time, and I didn’t want to become a massage therapist, so my studies ended. However, my practice of Shiatsu did not. I continued practicing for years on myself, family and friends.
When Reiki and Polarity Healing came into my life in 1997 I was ready. Polarity therapy, like Shiatsu, is a holistic healing practice that works in the energy field. It draws on principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda. Hands-on manipulative touch is used in Polarity therapy. Despite assurances from the teachers and program I was in, practicing Polarity without being a Massage Therapist was becoming illegal at that time. People were being arrested. My studies once again ended as being a massage therapist was still not of interest to me.
Reiki is a form of healing where the practitioner’s hands are placed in the person’s energy field or if on the body as a simple laying on of hands. To change position, the hands are lifted and placed in the new position. There is no movement, sliding or physical manipulation of the body. Legally that is considered spiritual healing and not massage therapy. I have been practicing Reiki healing since 1997 and was attuned as a Reiki Master in 1999. Up until a few years ago I was teaching Reiki Healing and attuning Reiki Practitioners and Masters.
As a Reiki teacher I found it natural to incorporate some of the healing techniques I’d learned in Shiatsu and Polarity Therapy. Techniques related to balancing energies, holding space, and nurturing presence felt naturally part of Reiki practice. I’ve also always taught that you don’t need to know Reiki to do Reiki. Reiki (Universal or Divine Healing Energy) is simply part of who we are. It is the gentle energy you bring to a young child that is hurt, upset or crying. It is our loving attention and intention expressed through the simple action of being present, offering a light touch (in this case to oneself), trusting and being open to the flow of loving spiritual energies coming through us for our highest and best. Healing takes many forms so coming to the practice with loving kindness rather than expectation.
I invite you to open to and welcome the Spirit Energies and Entities you resonate with and feel supported by. If you don’t know their name or form, that’s okay. What matters most is what is in your heart and your openness to receive their support. A loving energy or energies that care about you in the most pure way. whether it is your higher self, God or Goddess, Spirit Guides, Guardian Angels, Archangels or Ascended Masters, Power Animals, Nature Spirits.
